INTRODUCTION TO DEPARTMENT

The Surgery Department at KIMS is a cornerstone of excellence in medical education, research, and patient care. Committed to shaping the future of surgical practice, we take pride in our distinguished faculty, state-of-the-art teaching & clinical facilities, and the unwavering dedication to advancing surgical knowledge.
MISSION: As a pivotal component of the medical curriculum mission of surgery program is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of surgical principles, techniques, and ethical considerations. The clinical training is prioritized by providing students with hands-on experience in modern equipped skill lab and at CMH Karachi which is an affiliated tertiary care hospital.
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME: This program provides a platform for the Medical Graduate to provide the bio-psycho-social care to the surgical patients. This can be achieved by simultaneously applying the knowledge and skills in a competent and ethical manner.

Prof. Dr Arshad Mehmood Malik

As the Principal of Karachi Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) and Head of the Department of Surgery, Professor Dr. Arshad M. Malik is an esteemed name in the surgical community. With an extensive background in both general and laparoscopic surgery, his knowledge has greatly advanced surgical techniques and patient care via excellent research that he has presented at international conferences. As an accomplished professional, Dr. Malik has been instrumental in developing an innovative culture and defining the department’s mission. His many achievements and continuing dedication to furthering the area of surgery demonstrate his commitment to excellence and improving teaching methodologies.
