INTRODUCTION TO DEPARTMENT

Department of Paediatrics medicine is an important segment of medical sciences. About 45% of our population belongs to this group. It caters the need of newborn, children and adolescence. This age group has its own peculiar diseases which includes congenital anomalies, metabolic disorder, infectious diseases. It also deals with nutritional problem, immunization, social and preventive Paediatrics. The diseases of childhood include most of the diseases which we see in our adult population along with many diseases which are specific to this age group. There is very rapid growth in this field of medicine and more and more sub-specialties are developing. The medical students have a very bright future if they join this specialty in future.

Prof. Dr Arshad Ali

Dr.Arshad Ali HOD paeds is graduate of Sindh Medical College Karachi, did his house jobs in NICH and JPMC. He did his DCH from NICH and FCPS from civil hospital Karachi under supervision of Prof. AG Billo. He served as chief medical officer in KMC, associate professor paeds in Abbasi shaheed hospital and KMDC. He also served as professor paeds in Sir Syed Medical College and presently serving as professor and HOD at KIMS. He is also serving as Associate Dean Clinical.

MESSAGE

Our department is an integral part of clinical faculty of CMH serving the sick children and providing quality education and training to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. We wish to teach and serve our institution in greater capacity and dedication
