INTRODUCTION

The novel idea of Karachi Institute of Medical Sciences was floated by 5 Corp. Comd. Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar HI (M) and Vice Chancellor (NUMS) Lt Gen Imran Majeed. It was then acquiesced in by COAS Gen Raheel Sharif NI (M).

KIMS is affiliated with National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) which already has various gems under its name like Army Medical College, Lahore CMH Medical College, Multan CMH Medical College and Quetta CMH Medical College.

The beautifully structured teaching hospital CMH Malir Cantt – was constructed by United Kingdom and was raised in 1949 as 50 bedded hospital. The hospital was upgraded to 500 bedded in 1983. It is an ISO 9001 Certified, A-Category hospital of Army.

CMH Malir Cantt has all the specialties and sub specialties for training of undergraduate and postgraduate students. It has a highly qualified and skilled faculty. Twelve specialties in CMH are recognized by CPSP for Part 2 FCPS training.
